May and early June bring large runs of King salmon to the many rivers of the Kenai Peninsula. We target these 20 - 40 lb. Salmon in the salt water as they migrate into the local streams. The salt water salmon are chrome bright and at the peak of health, strong and ready for their long upstream struggle. In addition to one King per day in the Cook Inlet, anglers are allowed two halibut daily. Halibut abound in Cook Inlet during the entire summer. These are great eating fish and grow to the 300 pounds. Many halibut are caught each summer that weigh over one hundred pounds, however fish in the 20-50 pound range are considered the best eating and are the ones most commonly caught. |
